There is a growing concern in the European Union regarding the CBRN threat. This reason has led Member and Participating States to agree on initiating a CBRN stream of work under rescEU to increase level of EU preparedness to CBRN disasters. To increase this preparation, the call has been launched to develop projects for decontamination units capable of acting in the three reference scenarios. These three scenarios are Unintentional Disasters, Intentional Disasters and Mass gatherings. To respond to this call, Spain presents the Spanish Emergency Military Unit, Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear Decontamination Module for rescEU (SP-UME-CBRN Decontamination) to the selection phase. This module will have capacities in the three component groups: - Decontamination of infraestructure, buildings and vehicles. - Decontamination of equipment and critical evidence. - Mass Decontamination and fatalities management. This ambitious project has been divided into three years with a total cost of eight and a half million euros. The location of the module will be the Torrejón de Ardoz Air Base (Madrid) therefore, deployment times will be shortened and total security will be provided when being in a military installation.
