Description | Speak Your Mind! (SYM) is an exchange project where high school students, teachers, Local Authorities (LAs) repres., and experts from 2 EU countries will take part in 2 days of presentations, debates, workshops on Multilingualism. Multilingualism is a cornerstone of policies and at the EU level and an engine of cultural integration and socio-economic development. In this specific context, the project “Speak your mind - SYM” aims to shed a light on European linguistic richness, foregrounding established and recent minority languages. SYM goals are: • To organise debates and exchanges between high school students, teachers, experts, CSOs (i.e. linguistic minorities) and representatives of Las to foster shared awareness about the importance of multilingualism, also as an asset to fight discrimination. • To contribute to the diffusion of multilingualism among EU citizens, especially belonging to the younger sections of society, using innovative methodologies and tools. • To promote multicultural dialogue and cultural diversity, bringing together individuals from different backgrounds and mother tongues and fostering their communication and interaction. • To contribute to a European shared culture that values diversity, gender equality and non-discrimination. SYM outputs: 1. 210 participants in the exchange and made more aware the importance of multiculturalism. 2. 10 representatives of LAs made aware of their citizens' perception on this issue. 3. A webinar on the reality of European multilingualism and cultural diversity. 4. An online training course for the realisation of film/video micro-documentaries. 5. 10 micro-documentaries on multilingualism and cultural diversity at local level realized by the participants (high school students) from 2 Municipalities involved. 6. 1 public art installation on multilingualism and cultural diversity. 7. The “SYM Guidelines”, a multilingual practical tool to foster multilingualism in schools and at local level. |
