Description

Special Olympics Inclusive Youth Empowerment Project Abstract: With this proposal, the SO Europe Eurasia Foundation (SOEEF) aims to enhance the well-being and inclusion of young individuals with intellectual disabilities (ID) through a series of targeted initiatives. The proposal aligns with the EU Youth Goals by promoting inclusion, empowering youth, and fostering active participation in democratic processes. It covers several key areas of work of SOEEF in the field of youth. Such as the Unified Champion Schools (UCS) program which is a cornerstone of the effort to promote inclusive youth empowerment by creating inclusive school environments where students with and without intellectual disabilities engage in sports and educational activities together. This program promotes social inclusion, mutual respect, and understanding, thereby fostering a climate of acceptance and belonging. The Athlete Leadership program further empowers young individuals with intellectual disabilities by providing them with the skills and opportunities to take on leadership roles within their communities. This initiative equips young athletes to advocate for themselves and others, enhancing their autonomy and participation in decision-making processes. Additionally, as part of the FPA, the proposal covers ad hoc activities such as Family Health Forums which promote inclusive activities, ensuring that families are well-informed and supported. It also includes Cross Border Youth Summits which bring together young people from different countries to discuss issues affecting them, share experiences, and develop action plans for their communities. Through these initiatives, SO Europe Eurasia Foundation not only promotes inclusion and empowers youth but also significantly contributes to the implementation of the EU Youth Goals, fostering an inclusive and equitable society for all young people.
