Cottonwood Media is a subsidiary of Federation Entertainment and was created by David Michel, Zoé Carrera Allaix and Cécile Lauritano. With offices in Canada, Germany and France, the company creates, produces and invests in premium, talent-driven content with a focus on bringing together North American and European audiences, on both linear and non-linear platforms. Cottonwood Media widely sold shows including animated preschool series (The Ollie and Moon Show (two seasons), Squish) and premium live-action series for kids and young adults (Find Me In Paris (three seasons), Theodosia). In 2021, we were proud to screen our first animated feature film distributed by Studiocanal: Around the world in 80 days. After 7 years of existence, Cottonwood Media is now looking to produce a new fiction series for young viewers, reaching out to a wider audience. Our new program Spellbound is meant to inspire all the new generations by showing them that they can achieve whatever they want and that nothing should stop them. We felt it was very important to honor diversity in this show and particularly through the main character of the series: Cece, a young African-American dancer from Boston who makes it to the Paris Opera School and realizes her dream of being a part of this prestigious school. Despite the difficulties she encounters along the way, she will work to overcome them and show that no matter her background or gender, she too can reach the heights. As it is still a youth program, we added a little twist to the story and implemented some magic that will make the program more appealing to our audience and give the plot a special feature. For this project, we are working with the creators of our series Find Me in Paris, Jill Girling and Lori Mather, who will also be accompanied by various authors. Cottonwood's objective is to keep on offering young people innovative and educational content to enable them to apprehend the world with an open mind.
