Description | The project consists of the improvements and rehabilitation of existing outdoor sports facilities (track and field facilities and a soccer field), in light of the 40th annual Acadian Games to be hosted by the Town of Grand Falls and surrounding communities in Summer 2019. The project involves the delivery of the following components: Reconstruction of the existing 400 meter oval track, including the removal of its current granular surface and the installation of a synthetic rubber surface to meet the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) guidelines. Rehabilitation of the interior full-length soccer field. Addition of a runway (approximately 40 meters) with one sand-pit at both ends, to be used for events such as long jump and triple jump. Addition of a surface area to be used for high jump events. Addition of a cage area to be used for shot put and disk throwing. Addition of a runway to be used for javelin events. |
