Description | In December 2013, Consorcio SPS Siglo XXI (William & Molina Constructores) was awarded the contract to expand, rehabilitate, maintain and operate the road network of the municipality San Pedro Sula. Details on the bidding process were not available. The 15-year contract was signed in January 2014, and the construction works commenced in January 2015. The sponsors agreed to invest US$ 87.9 million (HNL 1845 million) in the project. No toll rates would be charged to the users. Intead, the project's revenues would come from a fund established with the collection of tax payment charged to car owners of the municipality. In case the revenues were not enough to cover the capital expenditures, the government agreed to reimburse the sponsors. |
