The purpose of the proposed project is to improve right and left turn lanes at major intersections, construct sidewalk, landscaping and other pedestrian amenities like benches and lighting. The 2-foot wide raised median on SR 10 / Memorial Drive will be replaced with a 3 to 4 foot wide raised stamped concrete median. Improvements to the outside shoulders include a 2-foot stamped concrete strip, a 10-foot wide sidewalk and a 5-foot planting strip. The project also includes the construction of left turn lanes on SR 10 / Memorial Drive at the Collingwood Drive and Rockbridge Road intersections. Lighting, benches and other pedestrian amenities would be added to improve pedestrian safety along the corridor. The total length of the project is 0.69 miles.
