Description | The construction of the new expanded Dog River Reservoir consists of raising the reservoir to a new surface elevation of 795.3 feet above sea level and includes: a raised and expanded earthen dam, a new reservoir intake pump station, a new labyrinth spillway, and improved access road, earthen borrow areas, relocation of the recreation area, and raising and relocation of the Georgia State Route 166 bridge. The project sites is located in the southwestern portion of Douglas County on the Dog River with the dam approximately 900 ft upstream from the confluence of the Chattahoochee River and Dog River. The relocated State Route 166 will be just north and parallel to the existing alignment and back in at locations that meet design criteria and allow traffic to be maintained during construction. |
