Description

Description

This project is the widening to the South Toccoa Bypass from SR 184 to SR 17 for a total of 8.60km. The existing roadway consists of two, 3.6m lanes with 3.0 m rural shoulders. The existing right of way varies from 85.0 m to 98.0m. This project is identified as a part of the Governor's Road Improvement Program (GRIP). The proposed multilaning will serve as a catalyst for development of the region, connecting the Atlanta area with the more sparsely developed areas. The proposed project will add two additional lanes to the existing alignment, thus creating a multilane bypass. The typical section will consist of two, 3.6 m lanes in each direction separated by a 13.4m depressed grassed median. The existing culvert along this route will be extended to appropriate lengths to accommodate the proposed new lanes. No additional right-of-way will be required for implementation; however, minor easements may be required. Access along this route will be partial limited.
