Description
Description | Gateway Bridge to Prosperity: Ga Hwy 75/Main St at Chattahoochee River, Downtown Helen, White County, GA. The proposed project will consist of the replacement of an existing 4-ft wide pedestrian bridge across the Chattahoochee River on the N side of Main St in the downtown area with a 7’5” wide pedestrian bridge. The length of the proposed pedestrian bridge is approx. 165-LF. The project will include approx. 15 LF of sidewalk modifications to connect the new bridge to existing sidewalks (~4.5 LF on west side and ~10.5 LF on eastside). The sidewalks will be 8-ft wide at the bridge and taper to match the existing sidewalks on either side of the bridge (~6-ft wide). Total length: ~180 LF. The project will also include pedestrian lighting, which will be non-breakaway and will attach to the proposed pedestrian bridge railing, and matching the existing City pedestrian lights. The proposed sidewalk may affect existing storm sewer on the east side of the River, which may need to be modified. |
