This project consists of interim improvements at the intersection of SR 20 and SR 212 in Newton County. The existing intersections of SR 20 and SR 212 create two very closely spaced unsignalized intersections as they converge, creating a three-leg intresection and diverge 300' to south at a four-leg intersection. Left turn bays will be added to each of the approaches on both intersections and right turn bays will be added to the three-leg intersection with signals being proposed at both intersections. The design was laid out to minimize impacts to a cemetery, church, and historic house within the project limits. This is an interim project designed to relieve congestion and improve operations at these two intersections until the construction of GDOT project STP-869(13) PI No. 730907 which is a major widening project on SR 20.
