Description

Description

The bridge (Structure ID 181-0004-0) was built in 1952 & is listed in fair condition. It consists of seven spans of five steel beams on reinforced concrete caps & piles with spread footings. The bridge was designed using an H-15 design vehicle & the calculated load carrying capacity is 36.1% lower than current standards. The barrier is showing signs of deterioration & is not MASH compliant. There is cracking throughout the deck & the joints are leaking. There is horizontal cracking at the edge beams at bents 3, 4, 5 & 7 and spalling with exposed rebar on both overhangs. The anchor bolts on the bearings under beam 1 at abutment 1 are bent & the bearings at bents 2, 3 & 6 have moderate corrosion. Due to the age and condition of the bridge & the load carrying capacity being below current standards, replacement is necessary.
