Description

Description

The project consists of drainage upgrades along SR 11/22/US 129 from Stewart Street to Madison Street in Gray, Georgia, for a distance of 1665 feet. This area has been consistently plagued with drainage problems. Several inlets along the roadway are clogged. Currently, during heavy rains, water backs up and floods the First Baptist Church parking lot. Water also blocks a business entrance located in the project's corridor. The existing system, which goes under the church, will be plugged at the roadway right of way, preventing water from entering the church system and stopping the problem. The water will be rerouted along the roadway by way of a longitudinal pipe system. The curb and gutter in this area will be replaced as needed in order to stop overflow caused by the thick pavement that has resulted from past repaving. The project will correct the inadequate and in some places non-functioning drainage system and will provide a functioning system within the project corridor.
