Description | This project consists of widening Russell Parkway, east bound exit ramp, to provide two left turn lanes and one right turn lane. A signal light is being added at the intersection. In addition, a right turn lane is being added to S.R. 247/ US 129 onto Booth Road. PURPOSE: Accident history for this intersection shows six accidents in 1998 and six accidents in 1999. Two of these were right-angle accidents, five were rear-end accidents in the SR 247 median, four occurred south bound on-ramp area, and one was a rear-end accident on east bound ramp. The installation of a traffic signal and the removal of the long southbound ramp will greatly enhance the safety of this intersection. To improve the safety and orderly progression of traffic through the intersection, these improvements are recommended. |
