Description

Description

The proposed widening of SR 30/US 280 from West of Sunset Drive to Broadfoot Boulevard will consist of two lanes in each direction, separated by a flush median. A one-way pair system, utilizing the existing SR 30/US 280 for the eastbound lanes and South Main Street for the westbound lanes, will begin just East of Brinson Road and continue to just West of Leslie Street. The project consists of widening and pavement overlay of existing conditions. The one-way pairing of SR 30/US 280 and South Main Street will facilitate the flow of vehicular traffic on SR 30/US 280 through Vidalia. The improved facility would help to accommodate existing and future traffic conditions in the Central Business District (CBD) caused by growth in the area. Also, traffic traveling through the intersections and turning traffic would no longer have conflicts with turning movements from the opposite direction. The pairing of these two roads would also have a positive effect on pedestrian circulation.
