Description

This project consists of the widening and reconstruction of SR 34 from just east of SR 154 to just west of Fischer Road. The existing 2-lane roadway will be widened to 4-lanes, two in each direction, separated by a 44-ft. wide depressed grassed median with rural shoulders on each side of the road. The existing 2-lane bridge over Shoal Creek will be replaced with 2 parallel bridges. SR 34 is the primary arterial serving the eastern portion of Coweta County as well as being a part, along with SR 54, of a major corridor connecting Jonesboro in Clayton County, Peachtree City in Fayette County, and Newnan in Coweta County. The project is needed due to rapid growth, both residential and commercial, along the corridor that has resulted in a need for added traffic capacity.
