Description

Description

This bridge (Structure ID 137-0032-0; SR 384 over Chattahoochee River) was built in 1960 and widened in 1994. The bridge consists of four spans of steel beams on concrete caps with concrete columns. It was designed using an H-15 vehicle and the calculated load carrying capacity is 37.3 percent lower than our current standards. The current condition of the bridge is fair. There is moderate cracking throughout the deck. All the steel beams have areas of minor corrosion. Several beams and bearing assemblies have advancing corrosion and moderate section loss. The concrete caps have cracking with efflorescence and spalls with exposed rebar. Due to condition of this structure, the load carrying capacity below current design standards, and the extent of section loss, replacement of this structure is necessary.
