Description

Description

This project is the widening and reconstruction of US 19/SR 3 from just south of CR201 (Cooper Road) to the Butler Bypass for a total of 10.2 miles. The existing roadway consists of two lanes with rural shoulders on 100 ft. of existing right-of-way. The existing major structures are: (1) CSX Railroad Bridge, and the Whitewater Creek Bridge. This project is part of the Governor's Road Improvement Program (GRIP). The posted speed is 55 mph and the design speed is 65 mph. The proposed construction will provide four 12 ft. lanes with a 44 ft. depressed grassed median for the entire project length. The proposed right-of-way varies from 250 ft. to 300 ft. Approximately 99% of the existing roadway requires reconstruction. Three new parallel bridges will be constructed over the CSX Railroad, Rambulette Creek, and Whitewater Creek. The existing bridges are located in sections of existing roadway requiring vertical and horizontal alignment changes; therefore, they will not be utilized.
