Description

Description

This project is the widening and reconstruction of U.S. 41/S.R. 3 from south of North Highland Drive/C.R. 40 in Catoosa Co., GA to Scruggs Road/Frawley Road in Hamilton County, TN. The project would widen the existing facility from a two-lane rural section to a four-lane urban section with 14 ft. wide flush median from the beginning of the project to the TN state line where it transitions to four lanes with a 12 ft. wide flush median to the end of the project. The five-lane section in GA would be constructed wide enough to provide for a future four-lane with a 20 ft. wide raised median. The section will include 12 ft. wide outside shoulders with curb and gutter and sidewalks. The new construction will shift from the east to the west side throughout the project in order to minimize impacts to right of way, endangered species and streams. The proposed widening would improve the operational characteristics and safety along this section of U.S. 41. The project length is 1.45 miles.
