Description | Project 0011692 in Fulton County consists of the installation of the NaviGAtor system along SR 400 from I-85 to I-285. Included in the project will be a changeable message sign, detection coverage by use of microwave radar, CCTV cameras, and conduit/fiber optic cable communications system. By use of a fiber optic communications backbone, all the devices will be tied to the Transportation Management Center (TMC). Operators at the TMC will be able to detect incidents and dispatch the appropriate response teams with minimal delay. Operations and efficiency will be improved by reducing incident response/clearance times which can lead to the reduction of secondary crashes and providing information to motorists of roadway/traffic conditions. |
