Description

Description

The deliverable will be a GDOT concept report, including public involvement, for a future federal aide project. Moreland Avenue is SR 42 and a principal arterial with AADTs of over 30,000 and % trucks over 20 . It is a major economic generator for DeKalb County and a freight hub for the region. The concept development will bring this industrial area up to current design standards for the modern trucking industry, including radius improvements to allow turns for the larger 53 foot trailers, and develop a freight gateway into the Atlanta International Industrial Park, the Constitution Industrial District by improving the intersection at Bailey Street and Moreland Avenue. Trucks will be strongly encouraged to use Moreland Ave and discouraged from using Bouldercrest Road- which has more residential land uses. Other elements to enhance this important commercial and business area, such as sidewalks, landscaping and street lighting, will be considered.
