Description | This bridge (structure ID number 123-0020-0; SR 52 over Cartecay River) was built in 1940 and widened in 1985. The bridge consists of 4 spans of reinforced concrete deck girder spans, on H-pile bents in the widened section and unknown foundations on the original bridge with concrete columns supporting concrete caps. The bridge is designed for an H 15 vehicle. It is also scour critical. The beams have spalls and elamination present. The concrete columns and caps have spalls with exposed rebar and both horizontal and vertical cracking. Corrosion is present on the H-piles. Several pile encasements are undermined and there is drift present at span 2. Due to the condition of this bridge, and it being scour critical, replacement is necessary. |
