Description
Description | The purpose of this project is to improve the capacity and safety of approximately 3.20 miles of SR 53 starting at a point west of Duckett Mill Road and extending to Lake Ranch Court at the Lake Lanier bridge (the first bridge out of Gainesville). In addition, approximately 0.75 miles of Sardis Road will be reconstructed to improve its alignment and operating characteristics. SR 53 is currently a two-lane rural roadway. This project will convert it to a 4-lane median divided roadway with paved shoulders. Sardis road will be modified from a two lane rural road way to a four lane curb and gutter roadway with raised median. The existing intersection of Sardis Road at SR 53 will be shifted to the west about 500 feet and the signal will be upgraded. A new signal is proposed at the intersection of SR 53 at Lynncliff Road/Lake Ranch Drive. |
