Description | This project is a safety improvement that will construct turn lanes on SR 53 in Floyd County. The project will construct left and right turn lanes at fifteen intersections and four median crossovers on SR 53 beginning at State Route 1 Loop and extending to County Road 52/Autry Road in Floyd County. The signal system at two intersections will be upgraded to comply with the new turn lanes. The left turn lanes will be offset from the through lanes and will allow for improved sight distance and should reduce the number of rear end and sideswipe accidents. In addition, right turn lanes will be constructed at the intersections of paved roads provided that no additional right of way and/or utility relocations are required for their construction. The approximate net project length is 10 miles. |
