Description | This project proposes to reconfigure the existing 5-leg signalized intersection at S.R. 54/University Ave./McDonough Blvd. at Hank Aaron Drive/Ridge Ave./Gammon Ave. Four Norfolk Southern railroad tracks cross at-grade through this intersection. The 5-leg intersection will be reconfigured by aligning S.R. 54/University Ave. with Hank Aaron Drive. S.R. 54/McDonough Blvd. would then intersect S.R. 54/University Ave./Hank Aaron Drive at approximately 75 degrees to form a signalized T-intersection. The Ridge Avenue approach will be removed and a cul-de-sac installed, and Gammon Avenue will be relocated approximately 240 feet to the east away from the T-intersection. These measures will make it possible to incorporate railroad crossing gates to supplement the existing lights and bells. |
