This project proposes reconstructing the existing slopes along SR 60/US 19 approximately 2 miles south of the City of Dahlonega in Lumpkin County. Roadway construction is anticipated approximately 750 ft north of the existing Chestatee River bridge on SR 60/US 19 and ending approximately 400 ft south of the existing Yahoola Creek bridge on SR 60/US 19 for a total approximate project length of 0.5 miles. The proposed roadway typical section would consist of two 12 ft travel lanes, one in each direction, with 8 ft shoulders (4 ft paved, 4 ft grassed) and rural side ditches. Walls will be required to repair and reduce slope impacts on the west side of the project to protect the Chestatee River and on the east side to reduce slope impacts to the mountainous terrain. The required ROW varies between 130 ft to 190 ft along the centerline of SR 60/US 19. The estimated construction time for this project is 12 months, and an off-site detour is not required.
