SR-67 Pavement Rehabilitation Project

Caltrans proposes to repair and improve 18 miles of travel way and shoulders on State Route 67 (SR-67) from just north of the San Diego River Bridge in Lakeside to State Route 78 in Ramona. The work includes upgrading metal beam guardrails, repairing drainage culverts, and adding enhanced American with Disabilities Act (ADA) ramps and pedestrian refuges. Other project features include pavement markings at intersections as part of Complete Street– Enhanced crosswalk visibility, modifying existing signal systems and vehicle detection systems, and adding rumble stripes and traffic channelizers. The project will install a fiber optic cable system to serve as a digital backbone to enhance Caltrans traffic monitoring/incident management and to provide network capacity for future field devices as well as broadband connection for the rural communities along the route.
