The proposed improvement would extend the WB left turn lane on SR 8/Ponce De Leon Ave to have 160’ of storage, add a WB right turn lane on SR 8/Ponce De Leon Ave with 100’ of storage, and lastly, it would add a SB right turn lane on SR 42/Moreland Ave. Widening would be required on the SB and WB approaches to allow for the added right turn lanes. Additional right of way would also be required on the WB approach. A retaining wall would need to be constructed and a utility pole, a signal pole, and a drainage structure on the north-east corner of the intersection would need to be relocated. This improvement would allow for increased WB left turn storage and better service for the WB and SB right turns. Other alternatives considered include constructing a multilane roundabout and adding a WB right turn lane on SR 8/Ponce De Leon A, extending WB left turn lane, without adding a SB right turn lane on SR 42/Moreland Ave.
