The proposed improvement would provide dedicated southbound dual left turn lanes and a shared southbound thru-right turn lane. The additional left turn storage would require widening to the east into the existing island. The center-lane median would be reconstructed to provide safe separation between opposing vehicle movements along the northern leg of the intersection. The additional left turn lane would have a storage length of approximately 225’. Providing dedicated dual left turn lanes on the southbound approach is expected to significantly reduce the queuing and spillback observed during the AM and PM peak periods. The improvement will also allow for the removal of the split phasing, allowing the northbound and southbound approaches to run concurrently.
