Project STP-162-1 (21) is located on US 19/41/SR 92 in the vicinity of Lyndon Ave. within the City limits of Griffin in Spalding Co. US 19 BUS / US 41 BUS / SR 92 serves traffic traveling between northwest Spalding County and downtown Griffin. US 19 BUS / US 41 BUS / SR 92 is 60' wide with 4-12' travel lanes, a 12' center turn lane, curb and gutter and 5' sidewalks. Volumes are on US 19 BUS / US 41 BUS / SR 92 are 26,000 VPD (1998) with a projection of 42,000 by the year 2023. The purpose of project STP-162-1(21) is to improve safety and operation by providing 2 additional 6' X 6' concrete box culverts under US 19 BUS / US 41 BUS / SR 92 to better handle storm water drainage and prevent flooding. These culverts, combined with the existing double 6' X 6' culverts, will prevent water from overtopping the roadway during storm events. In addition, the surrounding business and residential areas of the City Of Griffin will benefit from the increased drainage capability.
