Description

This project combined with project PI # 752086, proposes to replace the Spring St. viaduct over the CSX Railroad in downtown Atlanta. The existing structure, built in 1922, has evidence of advanced deterioration of steel and concrete elements. The sufficiency rating is 4.0, and trucks and buses are not allowed on the existing structure. The project consists of three elements: 1) Spring St from Mitchell St to the new viaduct construction at MLK Jr. Dr., 2) Spring St from the end of the new viaduct construction north of Alabama St to Marietta St., and 3) MLK Jr Dr. from Forsyth St. to an intersection with Spring St. The existing typical section for elements one and two consists of four, 10-foot lanes with two 10-foot sidewalks, element three consists of two 12-foot lanes with varying sidewalk widths.
