Description | On 30th November 2011, the Government of Rajasthan awarded a concession of 12 years 5months and 6 days (including 1-year construction period) to M/s Deepak & Company for the strengthening, improvement, two-laning,operation and maintenance, and tolling of 36.9kms of Sriganganar–Padampur-Raisinghnagar–Anupgarh section of road comprising SH-03 (2/000 to 38/900), in the state of Rajasthan. Under the contract, Deepak & Co was responsible for the design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance,strengthening and 2-laning the exisitng carriageway of Sriganganar–Padampur-Raisinghnagar–Anupgarh of SH03 with paved shoulders.The scope included construction of new pavement, rehabilitation of existing pavement, construction and/or rehabilitation of major and minor bridges, culverts,road intersections,interchanges, drains, traffic signages, traffic safety measures, etc. This road upgradation was expected to ease traffic congestion and give significant stimulus to trade and commerce in the entire region. Deepak & Company won the tender through domestic competitive bidding, conducted by PWD Rajasthan, by quoting the lowest concession period of 12 years 5months and 6 days. Under the contract, Deepak & Co. was to recover the capital costs and operating costs including returns through tolling during the term of concession. The concession agreement for the project was signed on 22nd December 2011. The estimated capital cost of the project at the time of bidding was US$ 3.5mn (INR 175.7 mn @ 50 INR/USD). Details of financing were not available at the time of collection of this information. The construction of project was almost complete and the tolling operation had started on 1st September 2012. |
