Description | The SLBC tunnel project involves the construction of a 44 km tunnel for irrigation purposes in Telangana. About 35 km of the tunnel has been completed, with 9 km remaining. The project is set to resume with enhanced safety measures, modern technologies, and machinery. A heli-borne survey by the National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI) will identify geological risks along the remaining alignment. The project aims for a tunnelling rate of 175 metres per month and overall completion by January 2028. The works will be carried out in three regulated shifts with junior engineers maintaining daily progress records and third-party quality assurance. |
