Description | The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) reportedly plans to request its board to postpone the signing of the contract for the THB 179 billion Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima high speed railway. The signing of the contract is expected to be delayed on account of disagreement on the cost of tracks, the signalling system and train carriage procurement. Additionally, the 28th Thai-Chinese Joint Committee meeting that was part of the signing of the contract could not take place due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The 253 km long Bangkok-Nakhon Ratchasima route consists of 14 contracts, of which the bidding process has proceeded for 13 contracts, while the last contract involves the construction of the 10 km Bang Sue-Don Muang rail line. |
