St. Anne Centre - Facility Upgrades

The project has three components: 1) the replacement of existing aged and damaged counters and sinks in the resident’s washrooms; 2) the expansion (2 new spaces) of the facility’s dining room; and 3) replace the flooring in corridors of the building. Rationale: 1) The counters and sinks in resident washrooms are cracked. The wood that was used to support the counters/sinks is porous and has been identified as an issue of infection control; 2) The major elements of the expansion will be to rebuild the existing space and increase the total square footage of the facility’s dining and activity room. The current space was created by covering an existing exterior patio so the room is not supported by a proper foundation and it has been recommended by an engineering firm to be torn down. The objectives of this project include providing adequate space for the residents to participate in social activities, improve infection prevention and control practices within the facility and ensure the facility is fully compliant with fire and life safety requirements; and 3) The aging/damaged flooring includes the west wing corridor, lounge/dining walkway and the med room/laundry room corridor leading to the visiting area for residents and families. Some of the floor is lifting, cracking and seams are separating and becoming more difficult to clean. The new flooring would provide a safer and more sanitary environment for our Residents.
