Description | The Emergency Department at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago has undergone a multiphase expansion project. The expansion adds nearly 2,000 additional square feet to accommodate the growing need for emergency care. The first phase is complete, featuring a waiting area with nine-foot-tall windows, a Fast Track waiting area, nurses station, and rooms for patients with less severe injuries or illnesses to reduce wait times. Upon completion, the department will have 17 patient exam rooms and five additional rooms for patients with behavioral health concerns, including an exclusive waiting area for emergency behavioral health needs. |
