St. Matthew's Redevelopment

St. Matthews Redevelopment is a 320,000 square-foot structure containing an 11-story L-shaped apartment building with two levels of below-grade parking, as well as an adjacent church at ground level. The apartment building consists of 221 residential units, 23 of which are designated affordable housing units. The structure features a ground-level open courtyard with landscaping, as well as a swimming pool on the ninth level. Additional amenities include a gym with separate space for spin and yoga classes, bicycle storage, a pet spa, and two levels of below-grade parking. A major feature of this project was the redevelopment of the church, St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran, which has owned the property since 1962 and was demolished in 2008. The new church stands at 20,500 square feet, and showcases a curved and battered concrete wall clad with stone on the exterior. The interior features a custom curved architectural stone board form finish in the main worship sanctuary, which provides excellent acoustics. The worship sanctuary is illuminated by a central skylight. Within the church, the team also constructed classrooms, a reflecting pool, a fellowship hall, and a coffee shop.
