Description | A $400 million upgrade to the water treatment plant serving south London, St. Thomas, and much of Elgin County is needed to meet increased water demand from new industrial plants in the Yarmouth Yards industrial park, including the PowerCo electric vehicle battery plant and Vianode graphite manufacturer. The upgrade is necessary to accommodate an increase in water demand by 36 million litres per day, with the current plant capacity sufficient only until about 2036. The upgrade could take until about 2033 if work starts immediately, with construction expected to last 7 to 10 years. |
