It aims to provide a protected sea route to improve maritime safety by allowing vessels to bypass one of the roughest and most dangerous coastal stretches on Norway's west coast. The tunnel will be approximately 164 feet high and 118 feet wide, accommodating vessels up to the size of Norway's coastal route ships. Construction involves conventional drilling and blasting, removing around 106 million cubic feet of rock. |
