Description

Description

Phase I consists of the rehabilitation of the trunk sewer from Dorchester Rd pump station to Portage Road. Currently the project is in preliminary design; the pipe condition is under review to determine if the pipe should be replaced or is eligible for trenchless technology lining. Construction from Dorchester Rd pump station to Drummond Rd pump station is scheduled to begin Fall 2016. The construction from Drummond Rd pump station to Portage Rd is scheduled to begin in 2017.The project includes: (1) 2,200 meters of intercept sewer lining (ranges in size from 1050mm to 1200 mm; crosses under 3 roadways). (2) Replacement of 2 failed maintenance holes. (3) Rehabilitation of 26 maintenance holes. The project is incremental: even though a design was near completion, the project had been removed from our 2017 capital budget due to insufficient regional funding. The Clean Water and Wastewater Fund will allow us to proceed. The Stamford interceptor sewer is in service since 1964 and has extensive corrosion from hydrogen sulphide attack. Rehabilitation of the trunk sewer will provide a reliable and sustainable service to Niagara Falls residents, business and tourists.
