The project involves the expansion of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) in Kenya.The Kenya Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) is divided into approximately 7 segments. These include the well-known 609-km Mombasa-Nairobi section, often referred to as the Mombasa-Nairobi Standard Gauge Railway. Additionally, there are the 120-km Nairobi-Naivasha section and the 267-km Naivasha-Kisumu section. The other segments consist of the 130-km Kisumu-Malaba section, the 1,500-km Lamu-Lokichar-Nakodok section, the 700-km Nairobi-Moyale section, and the 460-km Naivasha-Lokichar section.The railway will establish connections between major cities within Kenya and link the country with neighboring nations in East Africa, such as Uganda, South Sudan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Rwanda, and Burundi. There are also possibilities of extending the line further north to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
