Description
Description | The Stanwell Battery project involves the installation of 324 Tesla Megapack 2XL lithium-ion units to create a 300MW Battery Energy Storage System with a four-hour duration. The project is located adjacent to Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton, Queensland. The battery system will be capable of discharging 300MW of energy for up to four hours (1200MWh) and is one of the largest in Queensland. The Megapacks are being transported from Brisbane and will be installed by Yurika, a Queensland government-owned company, with several local contractors involved. The project is expected to create around 80 jobs during construction and is scheduled to supply electricity to the grid starting in May 2027. |
