Description
Description | The $16 billion Stargate AI data center project tied to OpenAI and Oracle aims to build the computing infrastructure needed for future AI systems. The project involves constructing a massive data center facility in Saline Township, Michigan, which will use a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water consumption and is expected to draw around 1.4 gigawatts of electricity from DTE Energy. Despite local opposition and a township vote against rezoning, legal pressure and economic factors have allowed construction to proceed, with concessions including $14 million in community benefits and environmental rules to limit water use. |
