Description | DTE Energy has requested expedited approval from the Michigan Public Service Commission to provide power to the massive Stargate data center campus in Saline Township, Michigan, which is planned to power OpenAI and Oracle's project. The data center is expected to have 1.4 gigawatts of computing power, more than the output of DTE's Fermi 2 nuclear plant. DTE seeks to bypass the usual regulatory process, claiming the contract will not affect residential energy rates. Construction is slated to begin by early 2026, with battery storage included to meet energy demands without new baseload generation. |
