Starlink Satellite Internet Expansion in Maharashtra

planned

The Maharashtra government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Elon Musk's Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt. Ltd. to expand satellite-based internet connectivity across remote and underserved regions of Maharashtra. The project aims to improve internet access in areas with limited traditional connectivity infrastructure, connecting schools, healthcare centres, villages, and key infrastructure routes such as expressways, ferry routes, ports, and coastal police networks. A 90-day pilot phase will be implemented in three stages, with progress reviewed quarterly, and the initiative may be expanded across the state.
