Description
Description | Croatian Wheelchair Basketball Association (HSKUK) from Croatia together with its partners, Faculty of Kinesiology of Osjek (KIFOS) from Croatia, Barcel’hona Sports Events from Spain and Club for Youth Empowerment 018 (KOM 018) from Serbia would like to implement the project “Wheelchair Handball – Start Up” in order to raise awareness about this sport and provide more opportunities for social inclusion in and through sport of people with disabilities. Specific objectives: • To develop a comprehensive and accessible Wheelchair Handball Manual (WH Manual) by M7, serving as a practical resource for introducing and teaching the sport, covering fundamental rules, techniques, player classification, equipment guidelines, inclusion strategies, safety protocols, and practical exercises, adaptable for varying skill levels and physical abilities. • To equip at least 30 coaches and educators from Croatia, Serbia, and Spain with the knowledge and skills to inclusively teach wheelchair handball through an online training course by M8, focusing on adapting drills for various disabilities, fostering inclusive environments, and applying the best practices outlined in the WH Manual, as demonstrated by pre- and post-training assessments. • To raise awareness, promote visibility, and foster a sense of community through organizing local Wheelchair Handball games (at least 3 in each partner country) by M11, actively engaging individuals with disabilities, local sports clubs, and the wider public, demonstrating a 20% increase in participation of people with disabilities in sport activities in partner countries and resulting in increased social inclusion and knowledge about the sport. • To showcase the sport's potential and foster international collaboration by hosting an international Wheelchair Handball tournament during the Final Conference (M12), with teams from 3 countries, providing a platform for competition, knowledge exchange, and the celebration of inclusivity in sport. |
