Sri Lanka's Distilleries Company, related to the Stassen Group, via its subsidiary Bogo Power Pvt. Ltd., developed the 4.0MW Kirkoswals (or: Kirkoswald) mini hydropower plant. The project was located in Korkoswald Estate, Bogawantalawa. Annual output was estimated at 12.3 GWh. The project consisted of 3 Francis turbines. The Stassen Group and Distrilleries Companies are both set up by the Sri Lankan enterpreneur Don Harold Stassen Jayawarden, who holds business interests in both firms. The exact mapping of Bogo Power is unclear. Output was sold to the Ceylon Electricity Board. The turbines were supplied by Gugler (Austria), via its local agent EnerFab (Pvt) Limited under a contract signed in March 2010. Total cost was estimated at Rs. 750 million (US$5.9 million.). The project applied for UNFCCC CDM financing, the agreement was signed in June 2010.
