Description

Description

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) District Six is conducting a feasibility study to evaluate an elevated transit alignment along State Road (SR) 968/Flagler Street from Downtown Miami to Florida International University (FIU) to provide direct or intermodal connectivity to the existing transit system. The purpose of this project is to conduct a Transit Corridor and Project Evaluation (TCPE) Study for a proposed new line or extension of existing Metrorail (Elevated Heavy Rail) or existing Metromover (Elevated Automated People Mover/Automated Guideway Transit). The need for the project can be summarized by constraints from increasing traffic congestion with few options for expanding roadway capacity due to limited right-of-way availability and a built-out urban environment.
