State Route 88 - Pine Grove Improvements Project

The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), Amador County, and the Amador County Transportation Commission (ACTC) propose to construct intersection modifications, lane reconfiguration, pedestrian and bicycle improvements, and general highway improvements along State Route 88 (SR 88) in the town of Pine Grove, located in Amador County, California. The Revised Phase A has been developed that will provide operational improvements and congestion relief corridor-wide on SR 88 from near Ridge Road to Hilltop Road in the town of Pine Grove in Amador County, California. The total length of the Revised Phase A project is approximately one mile (PM 22.7/PM23.6). The revised Phase A proposes the following improvements: Standard 8-foot shoulders and 12-foot lanes on SR 88 from east of Ridge Road to Hilltop Road. Improving the pedestrian crossing near the Town Hall, just east of Irish Town Road, including the installation of a hybrid beacon. Signalizing SR 88/Volcano Road intersection. Correcting the intersection skew to standard. Installing signal interconnect from Ridge Road to east of Volcano Road. Constructing a sidewalk on the south side of SR 88 from Ridge Road to Irish Town Road; and sidewalks along both north and south sides of SR 88 from Irish Town Road to Pine Grove Elementary School. Constructing retaining walls/curbs where necessary when the embankment/cut slope of the roadway and sidewalks would otherwise encroach into areas that have constraints. Formalizing upcountry and down country bus stops. On street parking near Town Hall. Maintaining existing pavement and cross slopes at all locations that meet the American Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. Constructing a one-lane outbound driveway to Volcano Road at Pine Grove Elementary School. The existing outbound driveway will be removed.
