The 140 year old, 6 span bridge carries an average 9,000 vehicles a day. The bridge is being replaced as part of Network Rail’s Railway Upgrade Plan. The new structure will deliver a reliable bridge for the future and enable the temporary props currently supporting it to be removed along with the existing traffic calming barriers. Upgrading Station Road Bridge took six months to complete and required the road to be closed to road traffic for 20 weeks. |
